Illustrator and concept artist Fernanda Suarez has created an awesome illustrated series in which she draws what your favorite Disney princesses would probably look like if they existed in 2020. Her magnificent artworks draw inspiration from contemporary trends set by her favorite style vloggers and brands. "I wanted them to truly feel like people you would find on the streets nowadays," Suarez said during her conversation with BuzzFeed. Here’s a closer look at how the most popular Disney princesses would probably look like had they walked amongst us today: #1 Belle Belle comes across as the perfect girl-next-door. With curious eyes and messed up brown hair, modern-day Belle looks like she's still just as independent and headstrong, and still a total book-worm. She reminds us of Natalie Portman. #2 Ariel Modern-day Ariel is just as mischievous as the original one! With twinkling blue eyes and a sly grin, she is still quite playful. Notice how she is rocking a crab tattoo as an ode to Sebastian, and some gorgeous shell jewelry too! #3 Mulan Not surprisingly, the 2017 version of Mulan gives off a kick-ass, care-free attitude. #4 Jasmine We're getting a Kardashian vibe from modern-day Jasmine. And how adorable is the kitty version of Rajah!? #5 Pocahontas The modern-day version of Pocahontas looks fierce and like someone we would not want to mess around with. We love her arrow themed jewelry and tribal tattoo - she's totally on trend. #6 Snow White Just us, or does she kinda remind you of Veronica from Riverdale? #7 Cinderella Cinderella or Ivanka Trump wannabe? #8 Alice in Wonderland Alice is technically not a Disney princess, but she might as well be Disney royalty anyway. Fortunately, Fernanda's version of a modern-day Alice is apropos. Notice how Alice's Starbucks-esque drink has been rebranded as the "Mad Hatter Tea Co". #9 Tiana Where's the toad you ask? Modern-day Tiana hasn't forgotten about her prince - her belt buckle is a silent nod to the story of the princess and the frog. #10 Tinkerbelle Modern-day Tinkerbelle might not have fairy wings, but her backpack helps make up for that. #11 Moana Modern-day Moana looks super cool in her strapless crop top that shares a similar color palette with the character’s signature outfit in the 2016 movie Moana. Though Moana traded her shredded-pandana skirt for a casual khaki bottoms, her overall attire still has a Motunui touch to it, thanks to her purse that seems to be made with native materials from her birthplace. #12 Esmeralda This modern-day reimagining of Esmeralda looks very identical to her animated version, but much more alive. To achieve the 21st-century look, the artist dressed the street performer in trendy clothes and accessories, including a sling bag that looks a lot like her tambourine and a keychain that represents her ever trusty pet goat Djaili. #13 Kida Though modern-day Kida appears to have her face tattoos removed, her blue eyeliner and eyeshadow are evocative of the character’s facial mark that represents teardrops. #14 Megara Modern-day Megara loves pieces of gold jewelry. As seen in this artwork, the sassy former minion of Hades is wearing three bracelets, two necklaces, and a pair of earrings, all made with gold. #15 Rapunzel This modern-day version of Rapunzel looks so hip in her matching pink sweater and jumper. Completing her casual look is a pair of earrings and a pendant necklace, whose designs are inspired by her original residence, Kingdom of Corona. #16 Merida Bearing a slight resemblance to New Zealand singer Lorde, this modern-day Merida seems to be always on the go. The way she clutches the strap of her bag with her both hands suggests that she can’t wait to start her brand new adventure. #17 Aurora It looks like modern-day Aurora is spending a lot of her time going out after waking up from a very long sleep. While it seems that her fairy godmothers Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather aren’t around to accompany her, the three are essentially with her in spirit as shown in the three rings she’s wearing. #18 Nala Nala’s confidence is perfectly captured in this modern-day human version of Simba’s love interest. Rocking a hairstyle that resembles a pair of lion cub ears, Nala gives off a cool self-assured vibe. Her zebra print skirt and the lion paw tattoo just below her palm are nods to the original character’s life in the wild. BONUS: Disney Villains #19 The Evil Queen This modern-day version of the Evil Queen seems to depict the character as a strict boss lady with a very great taste in fashion. While she looks on point in the outside, her scary shadow tells her true nature. #20 Hades Hades is a hunky punk in this modern-day reimagining of the character. Though his mysterious and sexy look makes him a little bit endearing, his evil nature can still be seen through his piercing yellow eyes and a slight smirk. #21 Scar Scar’s modern-day human version has a very manly appeal. His wispy dreadlocks, scruffy facial hair, and incredible fashion sense can surely attract a lot of ladies. But despite his good looks, his bitter personality is still evident in his envious glare. #22 Cruella This modern-day reimagining of Cruella is a lot more beautiful than the character’s counterpart in the 1961 animated classic 101 Dalmatians. For one, this version has a rounder physique than the original, which has a super-thin body type. Also, this new incarnation seems to have a better taste in fashion compared to the animated version which is known for her over-the-top fashion choices. #23 Another Bonus: All the princesses together This illustration is from another artist altogether, Eumenidi. The illustration is more humorous, and it depicts all of the princesses "behind the scenes" getting ready in a modern-day makeup room. Now that you've seen what your favorite Disney Princesses would look like if they lived in 2019, have you ever wondered what your favorite Disney princesses would look like if they aged and grew up like real people? Costume designer Tony Ross, for one, was not the type to rely on his mind’s eye alone. He collaborated with costume designer Nephi Garcia to organize an elaborate set where the duo tried to portray what your favorite Disney princesses would look like. "What would Disney princesses look like as Queen mothers?" That was the question they tried figuring out in the photoshoot. To answer the question, they gathered together six models and their real-life mothers. Here’s how it went: #24 Real-life Ariel The youngest daughter of King Triton and Queen Athena looks classy, charming, and elegant as ever before. #25 Real-life Mulan Mulan without her sword? Nah, we don't think that's ever gonna happen! #26 Belle Young Belle is more playful, while her older-self portrays a more dignified Queen. #27 Real-life Cinderella The charm of youth or the maturity of the middle-ages, everyone's beloved princess or a venerable queen, Cinderella's ever-gracious personality seems to be immune from the flow of time. #28 Elena Dressed in her trademark long red sleeveless over-skirt dress, Princess Elena's transformation into Queen Elene is indeed jaw-dropping. #29 Snow White "Fairest of them all" then, "fairest of them all" now! Apart from this incredible photoshoot, all the participating models were also asked to write a message to their respective mothers.
