Though Messiah Askew’s portrayal of Pocahontas is a lot more vivid than the actual character in her eponymous 1995 film, there are a number of elements in the cosplay that actually capture some of the Disney Princess’ cultural sensibilities. For instance, the string of colorful feathers draped on Messiah’s left arm is a nod to Pocahontas’ Native American origin, while her pair of tan opera gloves are reminiscent of the character’s signature Powhatan clothing in the movie.
