Clarence Williams III (died June 4th, aged 81)
Clarence Williams III, who played the cool detective Linc Hayes on ABC’s crime drama series The Mod Squad, died of colon cancer in Los Angeles in June 4th. He was 81 years old.
Williams started his acting career on the stage, earning a Tony nomination in 1965 for best featured actor in a play for his performance in the three-person drama Slow Dance on the Killing Ground. In addition to his Mod Squad role, which lasted from 1968 to 1973, Williams also appeared in the 1999 John Travolta movie The General’s Daughter, 2000’s action-adventure film Reindeer Games, and 2013’s biopic The Butler.
