Most celebrity arrests were reported by media outlets shortly after they happened. But there were some instances when it was the celebrity themselves who revealed their criminal past to the world. In August 2009 ― just days after Fall Out Boy singer Patrick Stump was arrested on a two-year-old warrant for driving without a valid license, John Mayer took to Twitter to reveal that he was arrested for the same offense in Atlanta eight years ago.

To make things light, The Your Body Is a Wonderland singer challenged TMZ honcho Harvey Levin, who has become notorious for finding undiscovered celebrity mug shots, to find his old photo. “If Harvey Levin at TMZ can produce my mugshot, I will donate 25k to the charity of his choice” Mayer tweeted. “Who else is in? Harvey is Freedom of Information Act King.”

Within 14 hours, Levin released Mayer’s unseen mugshot which was taken after his arrest in May 2001 for driving with a suspended license in Atlanta.
